So those are the best laptops for 3D modeling, Solidworks, AutoCAD or Maya. What are the things and features we looked for while choose them?
Quad core processor with 8 minimum threads – It should have a quad core i7 or i5 with support for eight or more threads. This allows the application to do multiple tasks at the same time. We suggest going for latest 7th or 8th generation quad core i5 / i7 processors for best end user experience.
Discrete Nvidia graphics card – All 3D modeling applications require you to have a laptop with dedicated graphics card for optimum performance. All of these apps use the discrete GPU for rendering and that is why it is important to have a discrete GPU onboard for best performance. The best one are the latest Nvidia Pascal series that include RTX 2060/ 2070/ 2080/ 3080 but if you are a starter or intermediate, something like Vega 7 by AMD will do just fine too.
Full HD screen – High resolution screen is important while working on a 3D modeling application. Full HD screen shows you much more information and data at a time so you are able to squeeze in all the toolbars. We highly suggest going for a full HD laptop over a 4k quad HD laptop as 4k displays do not play well with windows 10 and text becomes way too tiny for daily use.
